There were 5110 liquidations in total in England and Wales in the first quarter of 2009 . This was an increase of 56.0% on the first quarter of 2008 and an increase of 131% on the first quarter of 1999.*

Bankruptcies

Bankruptcies reached a total of 19,062 in England and Wales in the first quarter of 2009. This was an increase of 23.4% on the corresponding quarter of 2008 and an increase of 369.87% on the first quarter of 1999.*

Individual voluntary arrangements (I.V.A)

The total number of I.V.A’s in England and Wales reached 10,713 in the first quarter of 2009. This represented an increase of 11.8% on the first quarter of 2008 and an increase of 543.66% on the first quarter of 1999.*
